Anyone planning their wedding in Staffordshire will no doubt have heard of The Ashes Barns, an exclusive use venue surrounded by endless countryside on the edge of the Peak District. You probably wouldn’t be surprised to read that this was a venue on our hit list to film at (as we got married at sister venue The West Mill in 2016!) so when Craig and Charlotte enlisted us as their wedding videographers, we couldn’t say ‘Yes’ quick enough!
These childhood sweethearts chose what ended up being the hottest day of the year for their long-awaited nuptials, with poor Charlotte turning up as an absolute bag of nerves at the venue’s quaint cottages to begin her bridal transformation (although she was in excellent hands with make-up being provided by one of Craig’s former colleagues in the film industry who eased the bride into the day with juicy tales of her time working on ‘Mean Girls’!)
After stepping into her beautiful lace gown from Wed2B, Charlotte headed up the road to St Luke’s in Endon, her local family church, where Craig nervously waited out his final few moments as a single man whilst being fanned by his attentive groomsmen (well, you wouldn’t really choose to wear a three-piece suit when it’s 32 degrees, would you?!).
The pair became Mr and Mrs Cowper in an intimate ceremony consisting of their closest family and friends, leaving the church under a beautiful flower arch of purple blooms, lovingly made by Kate at Polly and Petal, who also took the photos!
Guests then spent the afternoon basking in the baking sun of The Ashes courtyard before enjoying a traditional wedding breakfast menu served up by Jenkinsons caterers. The bride’s mother, Jill, also treated everyone to two touching poems written specially for Craig and Charlotte, one being penned by Charlotte’s Nana Rose titled ‘Memories’ (both provided the perfect narrative for their feature film!).
The last official job of the evening was for the newlyweds to open the dancefloor to Ed Sheeran’s ‘Perfect’ with Charlotte then choosing to share a moment with her father to Heartland’s ‘I Loved Her First’, a guaranteed tear-jerker! Mr and Mrs Cowper continued to dance the night away as if they were the only people in the room which made some of my favourite wedding shots of all time!
We cannot thank Charlotte and Craig enough for inviting us to film their wedding day…and for helping us to create one of the most beautiful wedding videos to date! We know these two will definitely have their happily ever after. x
