Q: HOW DO WE GO ABOUT BOOKING YOU FOR A WEDDING OR ENGAGEMENT FILM?

I like to keep things as easy as possible when it comes to booking me.

ENGAGEMENT FILMS

Please get in touch by emailing us on hello@ratherlovelyfilms.co.uk making ‘Engagement Film Enquiry’ the title of your email. It would be great if you could give me a date, time and location you have in mind for your shoot to make the booking process super quick and we’ll sort everything from there!

We’ll require a £50 deposit to secure your date.

WEDDING FILMS

If you love what you see and would like me to join your wedding team, please get in touch by emailing hello@ratherlovelyfilms.co.uk. Please tell me your wedding date, your bridal prep location, your venue(s) and what package you’d like me to capture. We’ll send you back a quote to check you’re happy with everything and a booking form which will just ask you for a few essential details for my records.

All you need to do to secure your date is to send back a completed booking form and a £200 deposit. I know full well how expensive weddings can be so I don’t ask for the rest of the balance until 14 days before you say ‘I do’. It’s as easy as that!


Q: WHAT DOES YOUR PRICING INCLUDE?

Whether you book an engagement or wedding film with me, it literally isn’t in my soul to surprise you with extra costs at a later date so when you first get in touch, the quote you receive from me will be the final total so you can lock it into your wedding spreadsheet with peace of mind!

ENGAGEMENT FILMS

The package price is inclusive of my time on the day including travel to any venues within 30 miles of my home in Uttoxeter in Staffordshire plus the time it will take for me to edit your video afterwards. I’ll provide your video to download online and social media links so you can share it with family and friends. Music licences are also included in the price of the package.

WEDDING FILMS

Wedding film package prices are inclusive of my time on the day including travel to any venues within 50 miles of my home in Uttoxeter in Staffordshire, plus the time it will take for me to edit your videos afterwards. I’ll provide all videos digitally on USB, all of which will contain your edited videos and the uncut versions of your ceremony and speeches. Music licences are also included in the price of my packages.


Q: ARE YOU WILLING TO TRAVEL?

I are more than happy to travel to wherever your wedding may take me! I’m based in Uttoxeter in Staffordshire and will travel to any location within 30 miles of my address for engagement films and any venues within 50 miles of my address for wedding films at no additional charge. If your wedding is taking place a little further afield, that’s not a problem at all – I will ask for a bit extra to cover our fuel. For weddings a good few hours from our home, I may ask for a budget hotel room the night before your wedding if I feel that the journey is too far to take in the morning – the last thing you’ll want on what should be the most relaxing morning of your life is your videographer stuck in traffic miles away!

I’ll be sure to include any additional costs relating to travel in our initial quote.


Q: ARE YOU ABLE TO OFFER TAILORED VIDEOGRAPHY PACKAGES?

If your wedding is a little different than the packages offered, no worries! Please let me know what you’re after and we’ll put together a bespoke quote.


Q: WILL YOU FILM SAME-SEX OR MULTI-CULTURAL WEDDINGS?

Of course! I currently have experiences of English civil ceremonies and church weddings so I am open to any guidance on weddings for different cultures and faiths to ensure I capture all the important parts of the celebrations!


Q: HOW DO YOU WORK WITH PHOTOGRAPHERS?

Before you secure me for your date, please double check that your photographer is happy to work with a videographer. In terms of how I work with them during your wedding celebrations, I very much let them do their own thing and would never stop them from executing their vision or style. All I ask is that they give me a clear shot straight down the aisle during your ceremony and a decent spot to film your speeches from. As I pride myself on filming your wedding day in an unobtrusive style, it works best for me if your photographer allows me to join you on your couple shoot as it saves me taking you away from your guests for double the time. I will let them take the lead in terms of locations and poses, but will occasionally want to dip in to get some of the key shots that are harder to get from further away!


Q: WHAT CAN WE EXPECT FROM YOU BEFORE OUR ENGAGEMENT SHOOT/WEDDING DAY?

I’ll be in touch to arrange a video chat with you a week or so before your shoot, mainly just to say hello but to also confirm the date, time and location. It’s also a great chance for you to share any ideas you may have of what you’d like me to film and ask any questions.

WEDDING FILMS

After I’ve locked your date into our diary, I’ll leave you to enjoy the rest of your planning until about two months before the big day. At this point, I’ll send you a questionnaire asking for some essential details about your celebrations so I know where to be, at what time and find out exactly what you’ve got planned so I don’t miss a moment. I will then arrange a video chat with you a few weeks before your wedding to ensure I’ve interpreted the information on your questionnaire correctly and really, just to say hello – you’re inviting me into your lives at one of the most special times so I don’t want to be strangers! I understand that for that extra bit of reassurance that you may prefer to meet me in person – this is fine too. Just let me know and we’ll work out a time and location that suits.


Q: WHAT HAPPENS ON OUR ACTUAL WEDDING DAY?

My day starts whenever and wherever you want me to begin, but usually around two - three hours before the ceremony to capture the bridal prep. I’ll be with you from the moment I arrive, only downing tools whilst you’re enjoying your wedding breakfast. I’ll stick around until about 30 minutes after your first dance, the idea being that I can capture everyone having a jolly good knees-up before I leave you to dance the night away.


Q: DO WE NEED TO FEED YOU AT OUR WEDDING?

I know weddings are never cheap so I certainly don’t expect you to foot the bill for me to enjoy the same wedding breakfast menu that you’re laying on for your guests. However, if you could offer some form of meal, that would be wonderful seeing as I will be with you for pretty much all of your wedding celebrations! Venues often have cheaper menu options which you can order for suppliers so it’s worth having a chat with them about this sort of stuff; I’m just as happy to order from the bar or restaurant if your venue has one. If you can’t feed me, no worries – just let me know in advance so we can bring some food with me.


Q: HOW LONG WILL IT BE BEFORE WE RECEIVE OUR VIDEO?

ENGAGEMENT FILMS

I never rush the edit on any of our films, but due to the shorter length of an engagement shoot compared to a wedding, I aim to get your engagement film to you within four weeks of your shoot date. If my schedule is looking particularly busy around the time of your engagement shoot, I’ll be sure to let you know if we feel it will take any longer.

WEDDING FILMS

You’re going to have your film to look back on forever so it’s super important to me that I can take the time to get your video perfect before you receive it. Depending on how busy my schedule is, you can expect to receive your wedding video within eight to twelve weeks of your wedding date. As an ex-journalist, deadlines are in my blood – I’ll have a better idea of my commitments when I have your pre-wedding video chat so I like to let you know a more accurate time frame at that point. If my schedule means I’m likely to take longer than eight weeks, I’ll always keep you in the loop but you’ll never be waiting more than three months!


Q: WHAT EXACTLY CAN WE EXPECT FROM THE CEREMONY AND SPEECHES FOOTAGE?

Put simply, it’s just footage pulled straight from our cameras so you have a raw memory of the most important parts of the day without fancy editing and music put over the top!


Q: WE’VE NOTICED THAT YOU USE A COUPLES FAVOURITE TRACK IN SOME OF YOUR VIDEOS - CAN WE DO THAT TOO?

I have moved away from creating these types of videos since I started the business, preferring to take the narrative approach to my wedding videos to tell the story of your day – I find it so much more emotive! Licensing popular music tracks is also a bit of a minefield so instead, I have access to a range of royalty free websites to source the best track to compliment your wedding footage. Most couples trust me to do this for them, but I am are more than happy to work with you before your wedding to choose a track if you would prefer to have a say in this aspect of the production.


Q: HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL BE SHOOTING OUR WEDDING?

I shoot weddings as a single videographer. However, my husband, Adam, is also involved in the business so if you require a second shooter, I will charge an additional fee of £200 for his services.


Q: HOW DO YOU CAPTURE AUDIO ON YOUR VIDEOS?

Audio is a huge part of telling your story and I use a variety of tools to capture the best possible sound. I ask the groom and officiant to wear a small lapel microphone during the ceremony so I can record the most important words of the day; I’ll also ask anyone making a speech during your wedding breakfast to wear a lapel microphone as well.

I also place discreet sound recorders throughout your venue during the ceremony and speeches for additional footage.

I’ll take you through our sound recording procedures when we have your pre-wedding video chat so you have a clear understanding of how your wedding film will be produced.


Q: WE’VE NOTICED THAT YOU USE DRONE SHOTS IN SOME OF YOUR VIDEOS. HOW DOES THAT WORK?

Drone shots can look all sorts of epic as part of a wedding video so I totally get why you might want to include it in your day. My husband, Adam, has permission from the Civil Aviation Authority to fly drones for commercial purposes so we are more than happy to provide this service for an additional cost, depending on how long you require Adam’s services for (if he isn’t coming to your wedding as a second shooter already). Please pop a note in your booking enquiry about wanting drone shots so I can get back to you with an accurate quote depending on your needs.

Drones are precious little things though and we take safety extremely seriously with them. We always try our upmost to get some gorgeous drone shots for our couples - normally before your celebrations kick off or during the wedding breakfast when everyone is inside - but factors beyond our control like air space regulations and the great British weather may mean we can’t fly on your day. If that is the case, we’ll be sure to fully refund any extra money you’ve paid for the drone service :)


Q: WE’RE WORRIED THAT BOOKING A VIDEOGRAPHER WILL MAKE A MEDIA CIRCUS OF OUR WEDDING DAY. HAVE YOU ANY WORDS OF REASSURANCE?

I have spoken to countless couples with this concern and it’s a totally valid worry to have. In fact, nothing is more important to me than ensuring you and all of your guests are happy and relaxed throughout your wedding day – if you are being directed or have a camera pointed in your face, I won’t be able to capture you in the most natural way which isn’t what I’m about. All of our past couples have complimented me on how I go unnoticed throughout your celebrations which I’m super proud of! As someone who has been there, done that and very much got the t-shirt (and the ring…), I can assure you that there are times in the day when you feel like the only two people in the room. My job is to show you what everyone else was doing at that moment as well as being able to transport you back there again and again!


Q: WE ASSUME YOU WILL BE COVERED BY ALL THE NECESSARY INSURANCES?

Absolutely! I have Public Liability and Indemnity insurance.
