Q: HOW DO WE GO ABOUT BOOKING YOU FOR A WEDDING OR ENGAGEMENT FILM?
We like to keep things as easy as possible when it comes to booking us.
Please get in touch by emailing us on firstname.lastname@example.org making ‘Engagement Film Enquiry’ the title of your email. It would be great if you could give us a date, time and location you have in mind for your shoot to make the booking process super quick and we’ll sort everything from there!
We’ll require a £50 deposit to secure your date.
If you love what you see and would like us to join your wedding team, please get in touch by emailing email@example.com. Please tell us your wedding date, your venue(s) and what package you’d like us to capture. We’ll send you back a quote to check you’re happy with everything and a booking form which will just ask you for a few essential details for our records.
All you need to do to secure your date is to send back a completed booking form and a £200 deposit. We know full well how expensive weddings can be so we don’t ask for the rest of the balance until 14 days before you say ‘I do’. It’s as easy as that!
Q: WHAT DOES YOUR PRICING INCLUDE?
Whether you book an engagement or wedding film with us, it literally isn’t in our souls to surprise you with extra costs at a later date so when you first get in touch, the quote you receive from us will be the final total so you can lock it into your wedding spreadsheet with peace of mind!
Our package price is inclusive of our time on the day including travel to any venues within 30 miles of our home in Castle Donington in Derbyshire, plus the time it will take for us to edit your video afterwards. We’ll provide your video to download online and social media links so you can share it with family and friends. Music licences are also included in the price of the package.

We’ll provide all videos digitally on USB, all of which will contain your edited videos and the uncut versions of your ceremony and speeches. Music licences are also included in the price of our packages.
Q: ARE YOU WILLING TO TRAVEL?
We are more than happy to travel to wherever our clients take us! We’re based in Castle Donington in Derbyshire and will travel to any location within 30 miles of our address for engagement films and any venues within 50 miles of our address for wedding films at no additional charge. If your wedding is taking place a little further afield, that’s not a problem at all – we will ask for a bit extra to cover our fuel. For weddings a good few hours from our home, we may ask for a budget hotel room the night before your wedding if we feel that the journey is too far to take in the morning – the last thing you’ll want on what should be the most relaxing morning of your life is your videographers stuck in traffic miles away!
We’ll be sure to include any additional costs relating to travel in our initial quote.
Q: ARE YOU ABLE TO OFFER TAILORED VIDEOGRAPHY PACKAGES?
If your wedding is a little different than the packages offered, no worries! Please let us know what you’re after and we’ll put together a bespoke quote.
Q: WILL YOU FILM SAME-SEX OR MULTI-CULTURAL WEDDINGS?
Of course! We currently have experiences of English civil ceremonies and church weddings so we are open to any guidance on weddings for different cultures and faiths to ensure we capture all the important parts of the celebrations!
Q: HOW DO YOU WORK WITH PHOTOGRAPHERS?
Before you secure us for your date, please double check that your photographer is happy to work with a videographer. In terms of how we work with them during your wedding celebrations, we very much let them do their own thing and would never stop them from executing their vision or style. All we ask is that they give us a clear shot straight down the aisle during your ceremony and a decent spot to film your speeches from. As we pride ourselves on filming your wedding day in an unobtrusive style, it works best for us if your photographer allows us to join you on your couple shoot as it saves us taking you away from your guests for double the time. We will let them take the lead in terms of locations and poses, but will occasionally want to dip in to get some of the key shots that are harder to get from further away!
Q: WHAT CAN WE EXPECT FROM YOU BEFORE OUR ENGAGEMENT SHOOT/WEDDING DAY?
You’ll have your engagement shoot with Lou who will be in touch to arrange a video chat with you a week or so before your shoot, mainly just to say hello but to also confirm the date, time and location. It’s also a great chance for you to share any ideas you may have of what you’d like us to film and ask any questions.
After we’ve locked your date into our diary, we’ll leave you to enjoy the rest of your planning until about two months before the big day. At this point, we’ll send you a questionnaire asking for some essential details about your celebrations so we know where to be, at what time and find out exactly what you’ve got planned so we don’t miss a moment. Lou will then arrange a video chat with you a few weeks before your wedding to ensure we’ve interpreted the information on your questionnaire correctly and really, just to say hello – you’re inviting us into your lives at one of the most special times so we don’t want to be strangers! We understand that for that extra bit of reassurance that you may prefer to meet us in person – this is fine too. Just let us know and we’ll work out a time and location that suits.
Q: WHAT HAPPENS ON OUR ACTUAL WEDDING DAY?
Our day starts whenever and wherever you want us to begin! Lou goes to film the bridal prep first whilst Adam captures some gorgeous shots of your venue and decor – he’s usually the one to meet the groom as well! We be with you from the moment we arrive, only downing tools whilst you’re enjoying your wedding breakfast. We’ll stick around until about 30 minutes after your first dance, the idea being that we can capture everyone having a jolly good knees-up before we leave you to dance the night away.
Q: DO WE NEED TO FEED YOU AT OUR WEDDING?
We know weddings are never cheap so we certainly don’t expect you to foot the bill for us to enjoy the same wedding breakfast menu that you’re laying on for your guests. However, if you could offer some form of meal, that would be wonderful seeing as we will be with you for pretty much all of your wedding celebrations! Venues often have cheaper menu options which you can order for suppliers so it’s worth having a chat with them about this sort of stuff; we’re just as happy to order from the bar or restaurant if your venue has one. If you can’t feed us, no worries – just let us know in advance so we can bring some food with us.
Q: HOW LONG WILL IT BE BEFORE WE RECEIVE OUR VIDEO?
We never rush the edit on any of our films, but due to the shorter length of an engagement shoot compared to a wedding, we aim to get your engagement film to you within two weeks of your shoot date. If our schedule is looking particularly busy around the time of your engagement shoot, we’ll be sure to let you know if we feel it will take any longer. We wouldn’t keep you waiting longer than four weeks though!
You’re going to have your film to look back on forever so it’s super important to us that we can take the time to get your video perfect before you receive it. Depending on how busy our schedule is, you can expect to receive your wedding video within six to eight weeks of your wedding date. As an ex-journalist, deadlines are in Lou’s blood – she’ll have a better idea of our commitments when she has your pre-wedding video chat so we like to let you know a more accurate time frame at that point. If our schedule means we’re likely to take longer than eight weeks, we’ll always keep you in the loop but you’ll never be waiting more than three months!
Q: WHAT EXACTLY CAN WE EXPECT FROM THE CEREMONY AND SPEECHES FOOTAGE?
Put simply, it’s just footage pulled straight from our cameras so you have a raw memory of the most important parts of the day without fancy editing and music put over the top!
Q: WE’VE NOTICED THAT YOU USE A COUPLES FAVOURITE TRACK IN SOME OF YOUR VIDEOS - CAN WE DO THAT TOO?
We have moved away from creating these types of videos since we started the business, preferring to take the narrative approach to our wedding videos to tell the story of your day – we find it so much more emotive! Licensing popular music tracks is also a bit of a minefield so instead, we have access to a range of royalty free websites to source the best track to compliment your wedding footage. Most couples trust us to do this for them, but we are more than happy to work with you before your wedding to choose a track if you would prefer to have a say in this aspect of the production.
Q: HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL BE SHOOTING OUR WEDDING?
Although Rather Lovely Films operates as a two, there may be some occasions where additional schedules outside of the videography business means only one of us can attend your wedding. Whilst this doesn’t affect the end product, please let us know if you would like two shooters when you make your initial enquiry so we can ensure we are both available to film your wedding.
Q: HOW DO YOU CAPTURE AUDIO ON YOUR VIDEOS?
Audio is a huge part of telling your story and we use a variety of tools to capture the best possible sound. Adam has over ten years experience working with audio so you are in very good hands with us! We ask the groom and officiant to wear a small lapel microphone during the ceremony so we can record the most important words of the day; we’ll also ask anyone making a speech during your wedding breakfast to wear a lapel microphone as well.
We also place discreet sound recorders throughout your venue during the ceremony and speeches for additional footage.
We’ll take you through our sound recording procedures when we have your pre-wedding video chat so you have a clear understanding of how your wedding film will be produced.
Q: WE’VE NOTICED THAT YOU USE DRONE SHOTS IN SOME OF YOUR VIDEOS. HOW DOES THAT WORK?
Adam is the only one who has permission from the Civil Aviation Authority to fly a drone so whether drone shots are included in your video partly depends on his availability. We know how wicked drone shots can look as part of a wedding film so whilst we always bring it with us on shoots, but we can’t guarantee whether it will be safe to fly which is why we don’t charge for it: there are all sorts of factors we need to consider including weather, airspace and whether your venue is happy for us to fly. We prefer to not fly drones over you and your guests – Adam will fly before your wedding celebrations begin or whilst you’re enjoying your wedding breakfast.
Q: WE’RE WORRIED THAT BOOKING A VIDEOGRAPHER WILL MAKE A MEDIA CIRCUS OF OUR WEDDING DAY. HAVE YOU ANY WORDS OF REASSURANCE?
We have spoken to countless couples with this concern and it’s a totally valid worry to have. In fact, nothing is more important to us than ensuring you and all of your guests are happy and relaxed throughout your wedding day – if you are being directed or have a camera pointed in your face, we won’t be able to capture you in the most natural way which isn’t what we’re about. All of our past couples have complimented us on how we go unnoticed throughout your celebrations which we’re super proud of! As a couple who have been there, done that and very much got the t-shirt (and rings…), we can assure you that there are times in the day when you feel like the only two people in the room. Our job is to show you what everyone else was doing at that moment as well as being able to transport you back there again and again!
We also use compact equipment and DSLR style cameras (that look like photography cameras) so you and your guests won’t feel like you’re on a wedding edition of ‘Big Brother’!
Q: WE ASSUME YOU WILL BE COVERED BY ALL THE NECESSARY INSURANCES?
Absolutely! We have Public Liability and Indemnity insurance.
